Report of the Jury (April 1, 1989)

Considering that Mr. PESTIEAU, by the width of his work and their originality, acquired an international reputation;

considering that by its research, it contributed to rise in Belgium, of the reflexion on the economy of the population and the public economy, at the same time on the level theoretical and applied;

considering that by its activities of teacher at the Université de l'Etat de Liège, in Belgium and abroad, it ensured the formation of a generation of economists specialized in macroeconomics, public economy and economy of the inequalities;

decide to award the Francqui Prize 1989 to Mr Pierre PESTIEAU, Professor at the Université de l'Etat de Liège.
